If you are buying your first home or updating your existing home, and need to stick to a tight budget, there are a few things to consider.
1. Planning
Before you get started on buying furniture, consider which rooms you would like to focus on the most. Work out a rough budget for each room and write a list of must-haves and concentrate on those first. Big changes don’t have to be expensive.
2. Up-cycle and recycle
You may already own some furniture or have some recycled pieces. It’s not too hard to keep these things looking fresh. If it’s an old sofa; add some new cushions, an old table; add some new chairs, mix old with the new and, remember, less is more.
3. Focus on current trends
Have a browse through the glossy mags and get some inspiration from the experts. Moody hues and luxe fabrics are on trend for winter.
4. Focus on the best value for money
Shop around and compare the prices, midyear sales are great time to start looking for a bargain.
